Ties and Tide

Oh, what time brings us all!

The flaws of men and egos tall.

What once was green and shined in glory,

Has withered and faded into a sad story.

We feel betrayed by the ties we built,

The promises lost, all left is guilt.

It never crosses to us of what we may lose,

Shackles of sadness over happiness we choose.

The bonds aren’t fragile, they have been nurtured right,

The tide of time, destructive in its might.

I want to bundle the flowers that now lay scattered,

It is and will always be family that matters.
